VeggieBenz has successfully converted 100+ diesel engines!
08/08/2008
VeggieBenz is investigating hydro-powered cars. The future hydro-conversion will be self-contained (no alternative fueling required), it simply uses the hydrogen particles to help your vehicle get 20-30% better fuel economy.
Q: can you put waste vegetable oil straight into the gas tank?
A: As long as it has been filtered, waste vegetable oil can be used.
Q: Is a two tank conversion system are better than a single tank system?
A: A single tank system is much more reliable; with a two tank system you need to start the car on diesel and when the engine is hot you can only then switch over to vegetable oil. When you are ending your drive you will need to switch back to diesel and run the engine until all the vegetable oil is out of the fuel lines. Fuel and engine coolant hoses are mounted under the car where they are exposed to external elements and possible damage from road debris. Loose hose clamps and leaks are common, causing problems like intermittent stalling and very hard starts.
Q: Single tank systems won't work when the weather is cold?
A: Single tank systems with fuel heaters work fine in temperatures down to the low 20s*F Between 10% to 30% diesel, kerosene, gasoline, and other fuels can be added to your fuel tank to dilute the vegetable oil when the weather is below the 20’s.
